From a corporate learning and development background, John Tonkin has worked with some of Australia's leading companies. The common thread was systems – helping the team to do the right thing the right way at the right time. After 12 years of valuable corporate experience, John launched his first business in 2000, specialising in business systems. It was all about bringing big business practices to the small business world where the focus on ROI is so much stronger and the investment of the owner is straight from the heart.
Since founding Brain in a Box in 2007, John now specialises in helping business owners to balance the demands of running the business, creating and keeping their systems up to date, and guiding the team as they work with renewed enthusiasm, accountability and client focus. With hundreds of clients covering the whole business spectrum, John has a practical understanding of the challenges and needs of those business owners who strive to improve their businesses by strengthening their systems. John gets a kick out of hearing proud owners and team members sound surprised when they see their systems working the way they were always supposed to. The pride they develop in their revitalised business reflects the practical, direct approach to developing systems that John has carefully honed over the past 35 years, supported by the award-winning Brain in a Box team. It works.

Commitment Poem:
“Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness.
Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation),
there is one elementary truth, the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans:
that the moment one definitely commits oneself,
then Providence moves too.
All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred.
A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one's favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance,
which no man could have dreamt would have come his way.
I have learned a deep respect for one of Goethe's couplets:
Whatever you can do or dream, you can begin it.
Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it!”
― William Hutchison Murray
